Children's clothing sizes for babies to toddlers
First, it's important to know that children's clothing sizes can be divided into different groups: baby clothing, children from 2 to 9 years old, and 9 to 16 years old.
Because babies grow so fast you can almost see it happening, they have their own sizing. These sizes are based on the average height of babies. For example, a baby of 1 to 2 months is on average 56 cm tall, so the little one wears size 56!

Sizes for children aged 3 to 8 years
They still grow quickly, but the fastest growth spurt is over. Therefore, sizes are no longer measured by month but by year. The principle, however, is the same as for the smallest sizes: the sizes are based on the child's height. However, the sizes indicate the longest average. For example, size 104 is for children who are 99 - 104 cm tall.
If your little one is on the shorter side for their age, it might be wise to go for a smaller size.

Children's clothing sizes from 9 years
Until the age of 9, children's clothing sizes for boys and girls are the same, but from the age of 9 onwards, this changes. This is because a girl's body develops differently from a boy's, and this begins to play a role in the fit from this age.
The differences are very limited, so for unisex clothing, for example, a size 152 will fit both a boy and a girl who are 152 cm tall.

Measure to know
We all know it; averages are nice, but they don't really help you. On average, it should fit, but what are the chances your little one is exactly average? That's why we recommend measuring your child before you go shopping; then you'll always know exactly what size you're looking for. Is your child 152 cm but 11 years old? Then you now know that you should just go for size 152, even if it's technically for a 12-year-old.
